“One policy that has significantly impacted my life is the FY2025 Budget Reconciliation Act, which eliminated Grad PLUS loans and placed caps on graduate borrowing. As a student pursuing a future in law, these changes have reshaped how I view access to higher education and professional opportunity. As a Sociology major, I have learned to look beyond individual experiences and understand the systems that shape them. If given the opportunity, I would revise this policy to restore accessible pathways to graduate education. I would reinstate or replace Grad PLUS loans so students are not cut off from funding entirely. I would also adjust borrowing caps to reflect the real cost of professional degrees like law and medicine.”
