Champions for Financial Legacy (CFFL) is a wealth-building education program of the Shawn Carter Foundation, in collaboration with Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. This comprehensive financial education initiative empowers students at HBCUs and their surrounding communities to positively transform their financial futures. By teaching the essentials of wealth building, CFFL works to close the wealth gap and open pathways to long-term economic success and social mobility. The program is generously supported by Toyota Motor N.A., Inc.
Since 2017, SCF has collaborated with Bridges To Wealth (B2W) and its founder Prof. Keith Weigelt at the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, University of Pennsylvania to provide financial empowerment, wealth building,and investment education workshops to SCF scholars, parents and local communities in Brooklyn.
In recent years, the B2W community of participants has expanded, largely through word of mouth, and now serves as a place for ongoing continuing education for participants of the Champions for Financial Legacy community workshops.
Classes are held every quarter, with the first hour dedicated to wealth building concepts, and the second hour dedicated to real-time market insights.
Education is power. Shawn ‘JAY-Z’ Carter and Jack Dorsey personally funded The Bitcoin Academy (TBA). TBA started in June 2022 as a 12-week free educational initiative for residents of Marcy Houses in Brooklyn, NY, where Mr. Carter grew up. TBA provides bitcoin and general financial education to Marcy residents to empower them to make more informed decisions about their financial futures.
