Do you have a personal mantra or guiding principle? What is it, what are its
origins, and how does it shape your life on a daily basis?
My personal mantra that I remind myself throughout my daily actions is “Pro Mundi Beneficio”, the motto of Panama, which translates to “For the Benefit of the World”. Being a first-generation college student and second-generation American of Panamanian and Trinidadian descent, this Latin phrase represents my heritage as well as my compass in life. Panama’s words are not just a translation, but they are my guiding principle, reminding me of responsibility in my everyday actions. With these words, I know that I must push myself to take actions that surpass personal success and will contribute to general welfare.
