FOUNDATION PROGRAMS

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Each student who qualiﬁes can receive a maximum of $15,000 from admission to graduation to help cover expenses during their course of study. Funds can be applied to tuition, transportation, laundry, apparel, food and other necessities. An average of 145 students are supported annually with multi-year scholarships.

HBCU

BUS TOUR

The annual Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Bus Tour exposes aspiring college students to 11 of these vital and historic institutions, from Pennsylvania to Georgia. Over 500 students have attended since 2007 and over 95% earn acceptance to at least one of the HBCU’s visited.

WEALTH

BUILDING

Through its partnership with the Wharton School of Business, SCF provides ﬁnancial literacy and wealth building workshops to scholars, parents, alumni and community members. In collaboration with Block and Cash App, SCF has provided on-the-ground support to The Bitcoin Academy, a project funded by Jack Dorsey and Shawn Carter.

GOODWILL

Through annual community and holiday events in Brooklyn, the SCF serves thousands of residents from the Marcy, Red Hook and Gravesend housing projects. SCF has also provided disaster and crisis relief funding to impacted communities.

STUDY ABROAD

Funding is a top barrier to ﬁrst-generation student participation in study abroad. SCF has partnered with institutions to expand opportunities for scholars to travel and develop global perspectives. 31 students have studied abroad with all expenses paid.

JOSH DUBIN

FELLOWSHIP

Through this social justice fellowship launched in 2022, select Scholars participate in a hands-on summer internship and receive additional scholarship funds to support their studies. Our ﬁrst 5 Dubin Fellows worked to help free wrongfully convicted Bruce Bryant, whose sentence was recently commuted by NY Gov. Hochul.
